About the practice.
Teri Thompson serves as an Associate Judge in DeKalb County Magistrate Court, a federal death-penalty defense attorney, adjunct professor, and author.
Qualified as Learned Counsel since 2018, she has represented people facing the death penalty in federal courts across the country, including courts in Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Her work has included youthful offenders in juvenile court, complex federal matters, and representation connected to historic political and social movements. She also volunteered with Clemency Project 2014, working with federal inmates seeking relief from unjust drug sentences.
As an adjunct professor, Teri has lectured in criminal law, criminal procedure, and the American court system, bringing trial experience into the classroom.
